Alia Branson’s journey into barbecue began as a backyard hobby that quickly turned into a passion. Without any formal training, Alia, alongside her husband Shaun, took a bold leap and turned that passion into Black Label Barbecue. What started as experimenting with wood-fired barbecue at home evolved into a thriving business built on hard work, dedication, and a commitment to quality.
In 2018, Alia entered the competitive barbecue world, earning multiple trophies across both low & slow and hot & fast categories. Her skills and determination shone through, and in 2022, she took the top spot on New Zealand’s first TV barbecue show, becoming the season one champion of “Cooks on Fire.”
Today, Alia continues to pursue her love for barbecue, sharing her award-winning flavours with the public through her newly opened BBQ joint. Her journey is one of perseverance, passion, and staying true to her vision of delivering authentic, hand crafted barbecue.
